Masterclass Tutorial: Skaeth's Wild Hunt

The Kurnothi of the Wild Hunt are such cool models and entirely unique within Age of Sigmar. As I made my way through the Underworlds Warbands I knew I had to tackle these woodland warriors early on.

The Strange History of the Sons of Dorn

Almost everyone who has been in the hobby has collected Space Marines at some point, and of those people most of them will probably have created their own Chapter, even if it's just a one off miniature. When I did exactly that with my Sons of Dorn back in the mists of time there was no way I could have known the strange history they would embark upon.

Hobby Envy

This is something I'm sure we've all felt at some point or another, whether we're aware of what it is or not. It's hard to avoid, especially with social media, and can eat away at you little by little if you're not careful, so what is it?

The Myth of Modeling for Advantage

We've all heard the term "Modeling for Advantage" before when people talk about conversions, and yes, I'm sure there are some people who would actually do this. Is it really worth the trade off of the stigma this term can bring though?

Shade or Contrast Paint?

I'm a big fan of the Contrast paint range and what you can do with them. They have so many uses, from the one thick coat application, to glazes, to using them to shade a model. This does bring up the question though of Shade paints or Contrast paints? They both cover some of the same uses, so which should you use?

REVIEW: Warhammer Underworlds - Dreadfane

Out of all of the boxed games that were being produced for stores like Barnes and Noble in North America, Dreadfane was definitely the one I was most excited about. I love that it will make Underworlds more accessible to non-Warhammer players, and I also really love that the Nighthaunt are getting a new warband that will be usable in regular games of Underworlds.

Warhammer Underworlds: The Perfect Quarantine Game

I've dabbled in Warhammer Underworlds since the game first debuted with Shadespire. I've always enjoyed it, but it's unfortunately suffered due to any hobby/game time I did have being focused on Age of Sigmar more. Now with most of the world in isolation and when a return to gaming normalcy will happen being uncertain, Underworlds has gained a new level of appreciation from me.

Mengel Miniatures Masterclass Tutorial: Rippa's Snarlfangs

Today I have the first of what I'm calling a Mengel Miniatures Masterclass tutorial, focusing on Rippa's Snarlfangs in this one. This isn't my normal step by step tutorial, and is structured more like the old 'Eavy Metal Masterclass articles from the White Dwarf of ages past. The techniques are a bit more advanced, but I go through every step and color that I use!

Battle Report: Legions of Nagash vs Maggotkin of Nurgle

With everyone cooped up inside and being unable to play any regular games of Warhammer, I figured I'd try a solo battle report. My forces of Nurgle face off against the Legions of Nagash in Shyish in a 1,000 point battle. I wanted to give it a narrative flair and follow a lot of the ideas utilized in White Dwarf battle reports. Read on to find out who comes out triumphant in the Realm of Death.

Mengel Miniatures AoS Reading List

I've always been a huge fan of the Age of Sigmar novel line and it's done an amazing job of fleshing out the world more, especially in the early days. While I've definitely enjoyed the line as a whole, their are some real gems that stand out more than others. With everyone stuck inside, now seemed like a perfect time to share my top picks for an AoS reading list.

Building a Better: Epidemius, the Tallyman of Nurgle

I've always loved Epdemius as a character. Back in the day he was the only named character for Nurgle and the palanquin has always been iconic for that god. I have one painted up for my old metal Nurgle Demon army from around a decade ago, and wanted to add him to my newer army, but thought he needed a bit of a revamp first, so I made my own!

TUTORIAL: Contrast Eternals

I've always liked the Anvils of the Heldenhammer color scheme for the Stormcast and even more so with the Sancrosanct version of them. The red and cream robes with the black and gold armor just looks awesome! While it's already one of the faster color schemes I decided to see if I could do it using primarily Contrast Paint!

Learning from Defeat

Whenever I go to events I'm not aiming to finish in the top three or anything, but I am usually hoping to finish top third, or top half. This usually means three wins and two losses, a respectable finish. What happens when you do much worse than usual though?

Making a New Festus the Leechlord

It's been awhile since I've properly converted a model for Age of Sigmar. When it came time to add Festus into my army for Adepticon though, it seemed like the perfect opportunity to give this classic character a little boost into the heroics of the Mortal Realms.
