Picking Up The Thread: Continuing an Old Project

As much as we may intend to finish an army or project in one go, life often complicates things. It's not uncommon to have to set aside a project and revisit it at a later date, or maybe you just want to add something new to an older army. This can present its own set of challenges to overcome though, so today we're going to take a look at continuing an older project.

Hobby Discipline

We've all heard the terms hobby wobble and hobby butterflies and we've all probably suffered from those very things every now and then. As I find myself daydreaming up lists and purchases for new armies while I'm still working on finishing several other projects I figured I would take a look at the idea of hobby discipline and what that means.

REVIEW: Stormvault Board Game

This is now the second round of Barnes and Noble exclusive games released from Games Workshop, consisting of Dreadfane, Combat Arena, and Stormvault. I haven't gotten any of the first round of games, though I have heard Blitz Bowl is really good, but I was lucky enough to have been sent a copy of Stormvault to check out. So, what do these self contained board games bring to the table?

The Art of the Tutorial

If there's one thing I've done a lot of, it's painting tutorials. I've been creating them in some form or another ever since I launched this website properly back in 2014. Lately I've seen a lot more people creating painting tutorials of their own to share with the community, so I figured I could put together a few tips and tricks I've learned over the years.

REVIEW: Warcry Starter Box

The most anticipated game of 2019 is almost upon us! Warcry looks to take the Age of Sigmar into a whole new level of gaming, the skirmish level, and the boxed set for it it absolutely chocked full of Chaotic goodness. So what's inside and how does it fare?

Mengel Miniatures Turns 5!

This day five years ago is when I first started treating Mengel Miniatures like a real website, with regular content every week! It's hard to believe it's really been that long, but here we are. I thought it would be fun to celebrate this milestone with a bit of a look back at the site over those years.

Painting Your Passion

I think most of us have a passion project when it comes to the hobby. That one army or faction that you keep cycling back to no matter how many new avenues you try to explore. For me that's the forces of Death in AoS, and at the moment, the Nighthaunt in particular.

Play On (or Reasons Not to Concede)

We've all had those games where you know it's over from a very early point. You've either been beaten into submission, or done so to your opponent, and there is practically no mathematical way for you to bounce back from it. So what do you do? Do you concede and end the game, or keep playing?

TUTORIAL: Darkoath Godsworn Hunt

As soon as I saw the teaser for the Godsworn Hunt warband for Underworlds I knew I was going to paint them up. There's just something so cool and unique about the Darkoath aesthetic within the universe of Age of Sigmar. These smaller warbands also let me put a little more time and experimentation into them.
