Mini of the Week 7-12-19

Welcome back to Mini of the Week, where every Friday I will find a miniature from around the web that exemplifies an aspect of our hobby and share it with you.

Biophagus by Artur Żołędowski on Putty and Paint
The new Genestealer Cult models are really nice, especially all of the new characters. This guy just has so much personality already, you don't really need to do any conversion work on him. I like how this paint job is much more subdued and muted, with the stark highlights and bright colors reserved for the vials of strange liquid and other medical instruments on him. It helps highlight the unnatural nature of them compared to the Biophagus himself. Everything is very smooth and crisp and you eye travels nicely around the model without ever leaving it. The banding of colors on the cables gives me a '70s vibe for some reason which I think fits with this model's character.

The base is nice and simple but completely fitting with the model. I like the clean, medical nature of it. It frames the model well and provides you with a hint of the setting he's from. It tells a nice story without overwhelming anything.

Be sure to check out more views of it over on Putty and Paint.

Until next time,

Tyler M.
