Mini of the Week 9-27-19

Welcome back to Mini of the Week, where every Friday I will find a miniature from around the web that exemplifies an aspect of our hobby and share it with you.

Dankhold Troggboss by Chris Clayton

There's a lot to like about this model. I really dig the two headed conversion on this. Not only is it done flawlessly, but it evokes a lot of classic fairy tale images, which is a perfect fit for the Gloomspite army. There are a lot of other conversions on here too. Both of the arms have been reposisitioned, the weapon has been changed to be held one handed, and probably even more that escapes my notice since it's done so well. Not only is the conversion top notch, but the painting is great too. The colors are very light and bright, and in my opinion, reinforce the fairy tale feel of it even more. I love the choice of sea greens used on the skin and the blend to the more fleshy colors is flawless. The mottling adds a lot of visual interest to the skin as well.

The base on this is nice and simple, but still has a ton of character. The green grass is bright and vibrant, and the simple inclusion of a mouth in the rocks ties in perfectly with the rest of the Gloomspite basing. All around there's not a single thing I dislike on this model. It was very deserving of the Bronze Demon it won.

Be sure to check out more views of it on the Official Golden Demon Website.

Until next time,

Tyler M.
