Mini of the Week 8-16-19

Welcome back to Mini of the Week, where every Friday I will find a miniature from around the web that exemplifies an aspect of our hobby and share it with you.

Corvus Cabal by Andy Wardle
There's no denying how cool the new Warcry minis are, with the Corvus Cabal being some of the coolest and most liked. It's pretty amazing to see something this high of quality so soon after their release, but I guess that's what you get with a multiple Slayer Sword winner like Andy Wardle. I love the little diorama going on here. It's nothing overly complex, but it shows off the two minis perfectly. Their poses complement each other wonderfully and you really get the sense that they're stalking some prey through the Bloodwind Spoil. I really like the purple used on them. Though you may normally associate it with the Unmade from Shyish, it works really well on the Cabal too. Everything is smooth and crisp, with the bird skulls and the model's skin popping against the darker colors.

The diorama base is nice and simple, but shows off the desolation of the Eightpoints with the scattered bones and withered tree. The little charm hanging from the branches is a nice touch and completes the visual triangle between the two models, ensuring that your gaze continues to travel around it. This is a wonderfully done diorama and I would love to see Andy work on some more of the Warcry models in the future.

Be sure to check out more of his work on his Facebook Page and Instagram.

Until next time,

Tyler M.
