Mini of the Week 8-2-19

Welcome back to Mini of the Week, where every Friday I will find a miniature from around the web that exemplifies an aspect of our hobby and share it with you.

Gaunt Summoner by Thom «Skoven» on Putty and Paint
The Gaunt Summoner is such a cool model on its own, and this conversion just takes it to another level. I love the Horrors coming out of the book as he stabs it. The flames turning into the demons is handled well, and the addition of the two pieces of parchment fluttering from his back really adds to the sense of movement and wind. The floating rock he's perched on is a nice touch as well. The painting on this is definitely done in a particular style. It feels more expressive to me, as in the artist's brush strokes and movement has been left in in spots. Other parts of it are really tight and smooth though, so it's a nice combination. The colors are bright and colorful as is appropriate for Tzeentch and the glow effect being cast from the flames adds a nice mood to the whole scene. Overall this is a really nice rendition of a fan favorite model.

Be sure to check out more views of it over on Putty and Paint.

Until next time,

Tyler M.
