Mini of the Week 12-13-19

Welcome back to Mini of the Week, where every Friday I will find a miniature from around the web that exemplifies an aspect of our hobby and share it with you.

Blood Angel Praetor by Sergey "Ravenswood" Gybin on Putty and Paint

Horus Heresy models can always like very cool and regal. Space Marines on their own are very cool looking obviously, but something about the Heresy sculpts and decorations just adds an extra layer of heroism to them. This Blood Angel Praetor perfectly captures that heroic and regal feel. He has just the right amount of ornamentation on him to make him stand out as a captain without going overboard. The pose is super dynamic as well and I really get the feeling that he's crashing back down to earth with his spear ready to strike.

The painting is superb. Everything is smooth and crisp, but my favorite part is how saturated it all is. That red is just perfect and pairs wonderfully with the colors used on the non-metallic metals. They've really pushed the contrast with the reflections on both the gold and the red armor. Even the base is saturated with color with the dirt having an almost red feel to it. This is really, superbly done.

Be sure to check out more views of it on Putty and Paint.

Until next time,

Tyler M.
