Warhammer - The Old World: What's Old is New Again

I'm sure we all saw the big news last week, the Old World and setting of classic Warhammer Fantasy is coming back. It's still a few years out, but that's still pretty huge. I figured I would take a bit of time to jot down some of my thoughts on the announcement.

GALLERY: The Cult of Slaanesh by Elfhead

Today I have a special guest post by Elfhead of the TGA Community as he shows off his fantastically converted and painted Cult of Slaanesh warband. This army bridges the gap from The End Times to AoS spectacularly, and every single model is a unique character in their own right. Check it out, you won't be disappointed!

2015: A Year in Review

2015 has come and gone and there have been quite a few big moments in our hobby during the year. This has also been the first full year of Mengel Miniatures doing three posts a week, my first "real" year of being a fully functioning hobby site. With that in mind I took a look back at the top 15 posts from 2015!

INTERVIEW: David Guymer

Today I managed to talk with David Guymer, the author of the final two books in the Gotrek and Felix series amongst several other Warhammer Fantasy novels. We discuss about what it's like writing for the Black Library, how the doom of Gotrek came to be, the End Times in general, and much, much more.

REVIEW: Slayer

The final chapter in the saga of Gotrek and Felix has come and passed. Was it everything it needed to be to wrap up such an iconic storyline from the Warhammer universe?

REVIEW: Deathblade

This novel was a bit of an odd one as far as the End Times go. It is almost a sidebar, not something you absolutely need for the series, but it of course acts as a cap to the Malus Darkblade storyline. So how did this book fare?

INTERVIEW: Josh Reynolds, the Lord of the End Times

I did an interview with Josh Reynolds back after The Return of Nagash came out. Now that the End Times series is wrapped up I catch up with him again to pick his brain about what it was like to write about the end of the Old World and all that it entailed.

End Times The Novels: Tally of Destruction

The End Times are done as far as the main source books are concerned, but the carnage continues in the novels. Most of the time they cover events already covered in the main books, but there are a few more kingdoms and heroes who meet their end only in the novel series. Warning, if you haven't read The Return of Nagash through The Lord of the End Times, then there are SPOILERS following!

REVIEW: The Lord of the End Times

The final novel in the End Times series is here and it doesn't disappoint. Everything has been leading to this and the series goes out with a bang, with almost every character from Warhammer's past getting a mention.

REVIEW: Kinslayer

The Doom of Gotrek Gurnisson is fast approaching and today I have a review of part one of Gotrek and Felix's final adventure, Kinslayer by David Guymer. It's the start of a bittersweet goodbye as the longest running series in Warhammer Fantasy comes to a close.

Archaon: Tally of Destruction

This is it everyone, the final installment of the End Times. Now that it's all coming to an end, no one is safe. The death count in this one is staggering, almost double what it was in Nagash. Will Archaon be stopped in time, or is the world doomed? Read on to find out, but you've been warned, MAJOR SPOILERS ahead.

The State of the End Times: A World in Chaos Part 2

With the End Times coming to its inevitable bloody conclusion in the coming weeks I figured now was a good time to take a look at the state the Warhammer world is in. Entire continents have sunk beneath the waves, gods have died, and beloved heroes have perished. As Archaon's horde heads south the world is already in shambles from the End Times. Get ready for part two of the world's end. SPOILERS.

Thanquol: Tally of Destruction

With each new End Times book comes a new swathe of destruction cut across the Fantasy world. Famous and well known characters bite the dust and entire lands crumble into the annals of history and Thanquol was no exception. It may start off slow, but the body count really starts climbing near the end of the book.

INTERVIEW: Gav Thorpe

Today we have an in depth interview with one of the Black Library's longest writing authors, Gav Thorpe. Famous for secretive Space Marines, defiant Primarchs and Elves of the past and future, he shares with us what went into writing several of his novels. We also see his unique perspective on the End Times having worked on the Storm of Chaos campaign, a few tidbits about future Horus Heresy books and much more.

REVIEW: The End Times - Thanquol

The End Times comes even closer to its conclusion with the release of The End Times: Thanquol this past weekend. As Archaon marches south the vile ratmen pour out from their underground lairs to bring the Old World to the brink of destruction.

REVIEW: The Curse of Khaine

The Curse of Khaine is the latest novel in the End Times series, this time brought to us by Gav Thorpe. I think this is my favorite book in the series so far, despite my aversion to all things pointy eared.

GALLERY: Valten, Exalted of Sigmar

I have had this model for almost a decade now and have never had a good reason to paint it. With the End Times and republishing of his rules I figured now was as good a time as any. This guy was a lot of fun to paint and yet a complete pain at the same time.
