Mini of the Week 10-11-19

Welcome back to Mini of the Week, where every Friday I will find a miniature from around the web that exemplifies an aspect of our hobby and share it with you.

The Tainted by Sutek on Cool Mini or Not
This is another exceptional example of lighting on a mini, and in this case in a very natural looking way. I love that we have the warm light coming from inside the hall way, and the cold, white light of the moon shining on him from behind. I really get a sense of this Nazgul lurking through the halls of the Prancing Pony. I think this was the perfect model choice for this diorama as well. Out of all of the Nazgul models from Games Workshop, this one has the best pose for lurking down a hall.

It gets even more impressive when you look at it from the other way and can see the moon light painted on the floor as it comes in through the window. They've even painted the shadow cast by the Ringwraith onto the floor. Everything is very smooth and precise here while giving a painterly impression overall. You can see the hand of the painter a bit more on this, but it's clearly an intentional choice. I just love the mood that this diorama gives off.

Be sure to check out more views of it on Cool Mini or Not.

Until next time,

Tyler M.
