Welcome back to Mini of the Week, where every Friday I will find a miniature from around the web that exemplifies an aspect of our hobby and share it with you.
Plaguebearer by Yohan Leduc |
Now this is a Plaguebearer! As far as I can tell it's based around one of the Bloodbound Priest models with a healthy amount of sculpting on top of it and plenty of Nurgle bits. This is definitely a demon of Nurgle that didn't skip weight lifting day. If you're not as familiar with the model range I could easily see mistaking this for a completely original sculpt from GW, it's that good. The sculpting and converting is essentially flawless, I'm not sure what else I can say about it. Even the base is an excellent sculpt!
The painting is also amazing, as befits a model that won Gold at the Golden Demons. I'm particularly fond of the color scheme, since it reminds me a bit of my own Nurgle scheme, but to a much higher standard. The paler yellow tone to the skin really lets them draw attention to the bruises and other Nurgley goodness on the model. I also really like that they went for a brass color on the metals instead of an iron color as we'd normally see. It lets them use the sea green color on them for weathering which ties into the base as well as the plague smoke coming off of the censer. Really an amazing model all around!
Be sure to check it out on the Official Golden Demon website.
Until next time,
Tyler M.
