Mini of the Week 2-22-19

Welcome back to Mini of the Week, where every Friday I will find a miniature from around the web that exemplifies an aspect of our hobby and share it with you.

Eidolon by Neil Hollis
The Emperor’s Children always have some cool paint jobs, I mean what’s not to like about purple marines? This Eidolon is particularly good with some amazing blends and reflections on his armor. Everything is bright and saturated, with some crisp highlights to pull it all together. The non-metallic metals are done well but not to distracting. Sometimes they have a tendency to overtake the model as the painted wants to show off their skill. There’s a nice swing between cool and warm colors with the purple and gold as well.

The base does a good job of standing out without distracting from the model. I like that blue was chosen as the main color there as it keeps with the cool color of the purple without blending in too much. It also has a good swing between cool and warm with the pockets of rust, dirt, and few gold areas.

Be sure to check it out on the Official Golden Demon website!

Until next time,

Tyler M.
