Mini of the Week 8-14-20

Demons of the Ruinstorm

Welcome back to Mini of the Week, where every Friday I will find a miniature from around the web that exemplifies an aspect of our hobby and share it with you.

I'm a big fan of these models from Forge World, but hadn't seen many painted examples of them besides the studio ones. This color scheme is great! It's dark and evil looking, and something I haven't seen yet on Chaos demons. The magenta fading into the black is a great effect and the variation across the models makes the unit interesting, yet still cohesive. The edge highlighting is something I'm definitely a fan of. It's very close to my own style and the 'Eavy Metal style, which I think shows off the models wonderfully. The brass weapons harmonize nicely with the overall dark mood of the models, while the bright bone horns really catch your eye and draw you in.

I had been looking for a way to use these models in an AoS army and now I'm even more convinced that needs to happen somehow. I think these are more of a high end table top standard than a competition piece, but they still look great! The overall effect of the color scheme is fantastic. The burning, orange eyes are the perfect demonic cherry on top too.

Be sure to check it out on Cool Mini or Not to see some more angles and show the artist some love if you like it.

Until next time,

Tyler M.
