Welcome back to Mini of the Week, where every Friday I will find a miniature from around the web that exemplifies an aspect of our hobby and share it with you.
Mollog by ugluck on CMoN |
Warhammer Underworlds has some of the most interesting and characterful sculpts from the Age of Sigmar range in my opinion, and lends itself perfectly to a cool painting project. I really like how vibrant the colors are on it and how well the glowing effects have been worked into the overall composition. I think this is most prominently seen on his face, with half of it lit up red from the mushrooms on his head, and the other half teal from the club. The brightness of the club really draws your eyes in too.
I'm a big fan of how they've worked Mollog's base into the plinth and then even extended it. The sculpted details on the Underworlds bases are always very interesting and fitting for the model, and here they've added a bit more depth to it by extending one side of it down, really making it feel like he's in a dank cave. While this isn't the smoothest paint job I've featured on here, the painting is still very good, and the use of color and light is fantastic. I hope to see the rest of the warband painted up in this manner.
Be sure to check it out on Cool Mini or Not to see some more views of it and show the artist some love if you like it.
Until next time,
Tyler M.
