Mini of the Week 12-4-20

Welcome back to Mini of the Week, where every Friday I will find a miniature from around the web that exemplifies an aspect of our hobby and share it with you.

Aventis Firestrike by Riccardo "RA" Agostini on Putty & Paint

I'm a big fan of turquoise on my own models. I almost always end up working it into a color scheme, regardless of how it started out, and this, this is a beautiful application of turquoise. That armor is so vibrant. I really love how warm it is too. They've used a cream mixed into the turquoise for the highlights and it contrasts wonderfully with the darker, colder colors of his mount. Your eyes are drawn right to Aventis. The blending and non-metallic metals of the armor are wonderful as well. Really, all of the painting is so crisp and smooth.

They've really captured the feel of the different textures on the model too, with the armor feeling reflective and smooth, while the cloth of his cloak for instance has a slightly rougher texture to it. Even the fur of the mount has a different feel to it. The gold is magnificent as well, especially next to the turquoise. The two colors really pop off each other. I kind of want to say I wish they had done more with the base, but I also enjoy how simple it is since it lets the model shine more.

Be sure to check it out on Putty and Paint to see some more views of it and show the artist some love if you like it.

Until next time,

Tyler M.
