Mini of the Week 7-10-20

Welcome back to Mini of the Week, where every Friday I will find a miniature from around the web that exemplifies an aspect of our hobby and share it with you.

Mephiston by Krzysztof "REDAV" Kobalczyk on Putty and Paint

I really love the extremes on this model. It goes from a black cape, and almost black robes near the bottom, up to the almost pure white of his face and hair. It really pulls your eyes right to his face, and then bounce around between the glows from his gun and sword. The painting on this is just stunning. The blends are extremely smooth, yet there is still texture in the cloth. It's a very limited palette, but it works wonderfully for Mephiston. I really get the vampiric vibe from him. There's something otherworldly about his face and how pale his hair is. It almost feel like it's glowing, which it very well may be thanks to a psychic power manifesting or something along those lines.

The classic yellow tubes of the librarians is a nice touch and only works further towards drawing your eyes to his face. The base is nice and simple, but frames the model nicely. The blue of the stone helps accentuate the red model, while the inclusion of the Genestealer skull helps cement the otherworldliness of the piece, while also possibly setting it during the Baal conflict with the Tyranids. There's not much more I can say about this model. It's just stunningly good.

Be sure to check it out on Putty and Paint to see some more angles and show the artist some love if you like it.

Until next time,

Tyler M.
