Mini of the Week 11-20-20

Welcome back to Mini of the Week, where every Friday I will find a miniature from around the web that exemplifies an aspect of our hobby and share it with you.

Imperial Fists Apothecary by Hendarion on CMoN

I really like how vivid the colors are on this model. They're all so bright and saturated they almost have a comic book feel to them. They're all relatively soft as well. Sure, there are plenty of sharper edge highlights, but besides on the black, they blend in pretty smoothly to the base colors. It's almost as if we're looking at the model through a soft focus lens, which I think works pretty well for an Apothecary. It gives a sense of comfort and peace, which fits the fact that they're there to save lives.

I think my favorite thing though is how it transitions from cold to warm colors. If you look at the white armor the shadows are a cool blue, while the lightest areas have a little bit of a cream in them. Same goes for the purple, which starts off with a dark blue/purple and highlights up with a cream color. It's a nice juxtaposition. The yellow shoulder pad really grabs your attention since it's all warm colors. Really, everything on this model is pretty immaculate and well done.

Be sure to check it out on Cool Mini or Not to see some more views of it and show the artist some love if you like it.

Until next time,

Tyler M.
