Mini of the Week 6-18-21

Welcome back to Mini of the Week, where every week I will find a miniature from around the web that exemplifies an aspect of our hobby and share it with you.
Vampire Lord by Richard Joshua

I've seen several vampire lords converted from the new Sigvald model, but this is definitely the best one so far. There isn't a whole ton of conversions on the model, from what I can tell it's the shield and the bats, plus fitting him onto a smaller base, but it does the job wonderfully. Sigvald already has such a wonderful pose, and the haughtiness of it is perfect for a vampire. I think it's the addition of the bats that really does it for me. They frame the model wonderfully and really drive home the vampire aesthetic.

I also really enjoy the color choices used on the model. The mostly black and dark grey scheme reinforces the gothic aesthetic, while the few hints of red catch your eye. Even his hair is desaturated, with it somewhere between a grey and a blonde color. The armor has a high contrast look to it, with the blacks being fairly dark and then a stark contrast to the highlights, where as the cloth of the cape has a much softer feel to it. All around I just really love the look of this model!

Be sure to check it out on his Instagram to see some more views of it and show the artist some love if you like it.

Until next time,

Tyler M.
