Mini of the Week 6-11-21

Welcome back to Mini of the Week, where every week I will find a miniature from around the web that exemplifies an aspect of our hobby and share it with you.

Belladama Volga by Sion Scannell

This is such an awesome version of this model. I really love the dramatic lighting used on her. It fits the shadowy and evil nature of the Soulblight perfectly. I also really like how the color used for the dramatic lighting is purple, perfect for an army of Shyish. The rest of the colors used on her are more or less standard, but that's fine because you want the focus to be the lighting. The painting is great too. I love how it has a certain texture to it. You can see the artist's hand in the brush stroke, but in a way that looks purposeful and enhances the paint job.

The fur even had some texture lines painted onto it to really sell the texture on the wolves. I just really love the overall mood of this piece and it will look great across an entire army, which seems to be his plan! I highly recommend you check out his instagram at the link below to see more of his models. He's already painted up a bunch of the Cursed City models in the same style. I'm looking forward to seeing more Gravelords models done in this style!
