Mini of the Week 1-9-21

Welcome back to Mini of the Week, where every week I will find a miniature from around the web that exemplifies an aspect of our hobby and share it with you.

Teclis by CHK Studio

I love everything about this rendition of Teclis. The repose on the model is superb and the colors are amazing! I really get a much stronger feel of command and competence from Teclis in this pose, as if he's ordering his troops forward. I'm also surprised by how good he looks without his cape. Not that I think he looks bad with the cape, but he looks just as good without it here. I also feel like the repose balances the model a bit more and makes it feel more solid. Teclis and Celenar feel more like equals here, as opposed to Teclis being the master.

The color choices on this are superb. I never would have thought of using a greenish-yellow on him, but it works so well. Coupled with the rich blue, it's super striking. It still had that High Elf feel to it, but also reminds me a lot of moonlight, which is very fitting for this duo. All of the painting is to a very high standard, with smooth blends and crips highlights. I also like the addition of the crystals to the base. It reinforces the magical nature of Hysh, while also bringing the yellow color into the base to help visually balance it. All around a wonderful rendition of Teclis.

Be sure to check it out on the CHK Studio Facebook Page to see some more views of it and show the artist some love if you like it.

Until next time,

Tyler M.
