Mini of the Week 6-21-19

Welcome back to Mini of the Week, where every Friday I will find a miniature from around the web that exemplifies an aspect of our hobby and share it with you.

Angharad Brightshield by Patricia Sancho
I really like this rendition of Brightshield. I love how muted all of it, but in a warm palette. Even the blues have a warm feeling to them. Combine this with the golden armor and the red brown base and this mini has the feeling of a movie that's had a color gradient laid overtop of it. It really gives a strong sense of color and place. I can almost feel the heat radiating off the model and see the sun shining down on it from above. This mini has more of an artistic take on it, with some of the brush strokes visible, but in a very deliberate manner. You can see the artist's hand in it. It gels really well with the overall vibe of the model. I really like the weathering on the shield and shoulders as well. It contrasts well with the relatively clean golden armor. There are even slight blue reflections in the armor in certain areas.

The base on this is superb. It lets the model shine, but still tells a story and is visibly interesting. I really like the giant red rock. It's a color of stone we don't see as often in miniatures. The inclusion og the blade in the front and the spear behind her helps give it a sense of story, while also creating interesting angles that draw your eye to Brightshield her self. The one behind her helps give her a little height as well. Really all around great job on it.

Be sure to check out more views of it over on Putty and Paint

Until next time,
