Mini of the Week 4-28-17

Welcome back to Mini of the Week, where every Friday I will find a miniature from around the web that exemplifies an aspect of our hobby and share it with you.

High Elf Sea Lord by Glazed Over on CMoN
Sometimes you see a model that is just so cleanly painted that there's no denying it's amazing. This Sea Lord is definitely one of those models. While the mini itself doesn't have any conversions, it really doesn't need it. The sculpt is strong enough on its own, and the paint job only further reinforces that. Everything is super clean and crisp, and the non-metallic metals are extremely well done too. The color choices are straight out of the official GW scheme, but again, that's not really a check against this model. I would say that they have probably surpassed the 'Eavy Metal one here with the level of blending on display.

The base to this does a great job at framing the model and giving him a sense of space and story. By putting him on a rock overlooking the sea you can almost taste the ocean salt in the air. The inclusion of the seagull swooping low is a great addition as well, really adding a sense of movement to everything. Overall, this is an expertly composed and painted model.

Be sure to check out more views of the model on Cool Mini or Not and show the artist some love if you like it.

Until next time,

Tyler M.
