Mini of the Week 5-13-16

Welcome back to Mini of the Week, where every Friday I will find a miniature from around the web that exemplifies an aspect of our hobby and share it with you.

Skink Priest by Sproket on Cool Mini or Not
I love how bright and crisp this mini is. The super bright colors really help reinforce that tropical lizard feel that Skinks should have. It's very reminiscent of the 'Eavy Metal style, which I am always a fan of. All of the blends on this are extremely smooth as well, I mean, check out those scales on his back. It goes from a bright blue to a dark red! Just awesome. I also really like the textures that have been painted on in spots. If you look at areas on the skin you can see a subtle scale pattern painted on. This helps give the illusion of lizardy skin, without overpowering the rest of the mini.

The non-metallic metals are another stand out. Usually I am a fan of true metallic metals, but these ones are done so nicely, and they complement the model as well, instead of trying to steal the show. The base has just the right amount of vegetation on it to get across the idea of being in a jungle, again, without overpowering anything. It's all about finding the perfect balance between the varying elements of the mini and this model definitely has it. All around it's a fantastic mini.

Be sure to check out more views of the model on Cool Mini or Not, and show the artist some love if you like it.

Today we also have a special teaser. I wonder what could be coming next week?...

Until next time,

Tyler M.
