Mini of the Week 11-9-18

Welcome back to Mini of the Week, where every Friday I will find a miniature from around the web that exemplifies an aspect of our hobby and share it with you.

Awakening Spirits by Melanie on Putty and Paint
I actually saw this mini a few weeks ago and was blown away by it then. It's an awesome conversion and mini diorama (only using one kit thanks to the spare heads you get) that really does an excellent job at telling its story. Everything in the conversion looks great. I imagine most of the sculpting on this is around the joints, which probably helped. The paint job on it really screams Sylvaneth. Everything is bright and in your face, but very natural at the same time. Everything is restricted to various shades of green and brown, stretching into the almost blue and orange categories as well. Everything is smooth and crisp and the OSL (object source lighting) is handled well considering how overboard it can get sometimes. The base almost looks like a chunk of a real tree, which I wouldn't be surprised by. It works really well with the overall piece and doesn't distract from the model. All in all, this is a very nicely done diorama and it would be awesome to see some more Sylvaneth done in this scheme, specifically the Kurnoth Hunters.

Be sure to check out more views of the model on Putty and Paint and show the artist some love if you like it.

Until next time,

Tyler M.
