Mini of the Week 8-18-17

Welcome back to Mini of the Week, where every Friday I will find a miniature from around the web that exemplifies an aspect of our hobby and share it with you.

Khorne Banner by Countersunk81 on CMoN
I have seen some impressive banners before, and they only seem to continue to get more and more amazing as time goes on. This one definitely impresses me. It's the cover are from one of the Demon books, the last 40k Codex I believe, and it's a pretty accurate recreation. The fact that they were able to reproduce it on such a small scale and so accurately is astounding really. I really like the colors, with the greens and blues fading to the oranges and yellows near the flames.

The rest of the model is very well cone too, with very smooth blends and crisp highlights. The non-metallic metals are done well too, without being overpowering. The only conversion on here besides adding the banner in place of the weapon is a simple head swap, but it really reinforces the Khorne feel. He also looks really good on a round base, and I like the warm sand colors used on the small patches of ground we can see between the rocks. It really helps frame the model. Usually I'm not a huge fan of overly photorealistic banners, since I don't feel like that's representative of what they would actually carry into battle, but this one I really like.

Be sure to check out more views of the model on Cool Mini or Not and show the artist some love if you like it.

Until next time,

Tyler M.
