Mini of the Week 8-25-17

Welcome back to Mini of the Week, where every Friday I will find a miniature from around the web that exemplifies an aspect of our hobby and share it with you.

Seraphon army by Steve Party as featured on Blog Dé Kouzes

Man, there are Seraphon armies, and then there are Seraphon armies. This whole collection of minis is just astounding on so many level. I love how they're taken the basic Seraphon models and given them more of a high tech, spacey vibe. It definitely fits their new lore where the Slaan float around in their spaceships in Azyr.

The combination of the Necron bits and whatever scratch sculpting he's done really blend together flawlessly. This model in particular is one of my favorites. It just has such a unique look to it and has a very celestial vibe. The colors chosen are perfect, with the purples and blues for the skin.

The quality of the paint job is carried through the whole army, with everything held to the same high standard. The life blue glowing off the weapons really pops, and I like how he's carried it through to between their scales on their backs. It reinforces the idea that they're all made of celestial energy.

These Kroxigor conversion are great. I love how he's combined the Necron bits with some pieces from the Morghast kit. They are still very clearly Kroxigor, but with a space age twist on them. Despite all the high tech pieces on the army, I feel like it still fits very nicely into the Age of Sigmar look.

The Chameleon Skinks are another favorite of mine. The use of the Spirit Host tendrils on their backs to reflect their ability to shift in and out is genius. I really like the stars and galaxies painted onto them too. Despite all of these conversion, they still have an Aztec vibe to them, which I think is great. It keeps the existing look of the Seraphon and advances it. Again, I just have to mention how great all of the painting is on these too, really top notch stuff. I'm excited to see how this army grows and what he does to convert some of the other units in the army. I'm sure the Slann and bigger monsters will look awesome.

Be sure to check out more views of the army on Blog dé Kouzes where the army is showcased. They also go over a bunch of the ideas behind the conversion. I highly, highly recommended checking it out.

Until next time,

Tyler M.
