Mini of the Week 5-21-21

Be'lakor Cover

Welcome back to Mini of the Week, where every week I will find a miniature from around the web that exemplifies an aspect of our hobby and share it with you.

Be'lakor
Be'lakor by Max S on Putty and Paint

This is already an amazing model, and this paint job really shows it off in a new light. Most of the Be'lakors out there are painted in the traditional black and grey scheme, and they look great, but this one just turns it up to 11. As far as I can tell he's still intended to be black, but there's just so much lighting coming from the lava that he reads more as purple and orange. The purple is just the orange light fading to black though. What can I say about this besides that the lighting effect is just done so masterfully. It really reads as though he's lit dramatically from below. The color choices work wonderfully as well.

I really like that he stuck with the "shadow" blue for the flames on the sword and other glowing parts on him. It's a nice contrasting color to the orange and reads as though those ares are glowing so strongly that they overpower the light from the lava. Speaking of which, the lava and fire on the base looks great. Its the brightest point on the model, so it really drives home the glowing effect. This is just such a striking rendition of the Dark Master.

Be sure to check it out on Putty and Paint to see some more views of it and show the artist some love if you like it.

Until next time,

Tyler M.
