Mini of the Week 5-29-20

Welcome back to Mini of the Week, where every Friday I will find a miniature from around the web that exemplifies an aspect of our hobby and share it with you.

Saruman the White by Sutek on Cool Mini or Not
The new plastic Lord of the Rings models have been fantastic and the new Saruman and Wormtongue are no exception. There's no conversions on these, but they don't need it. By a simple, yet awesome display base, careful positioning, and some great paint job it feels like it's a scene right out of the movies. Everything is smooth and crisp, with some wonderful textures as well. I really like the cooler colors they have chosen for his robes as opposed to the almost cream we're more used to. It really contrasts well with the warmer tones of their skin, his hair, and the magical elements.

There's not much more to say on the paint job, it really is pretty flawless. The display base is a stroke of genius. It perfectly mimics the tower of Orthanc from the movies, and a polished, mirror sheen for a floor isn't something we're used to seeing on minis. It looks realistic, while also showing off even more angles of the models in the reflections. Something like this will make you really double check your minis to make sure you've painted every nook on them. The design on the floor is great too. I really love seeing Lord of the Rings dioramas, the models are practically made for them.

Be sure to check it out on Cool Mini or Not to see some more angles and show the artist some love if you like it.

Until next time,

Tyler M.
