Mini of the Week 3-6-20

Welcome back to Mini of the Week, where every Friday I will find a miniature from around the web that exemplifies an aspect of our hobby and share it with you.

Sister of Battle by In The Middle on Cool Mini or Not
The new Sisters of Battle line is amazing and this paint job shows off how elegant the designs are. I really like the overall drab nature of this mini. It nails that grim dark John Blanch feel with the only colors really being black, white, and brown. Even the face is pale and desaturated, basically just a slightly pinker white. Everything has been pulled towards the grey side of things as well. Even the black is a bit more grey, giving it a washed out and gritty feel. The paint job is incredible as well, with really smooth blends and crisp highlights. It looks like they used the kind of pointillism method that's popular right now and it really works.

The base is suitably dark as well with the mud on the bottom of the cloth really tying the mini and base together. This reminds me a lot of the cover for the 3rd edition of 40k, but with even more color pulled out of it. It really has the Blanchitsu feel, but with a tighter, more controlled paint job. The most stand out element of it has to be the face though. Those eyes are just so expressive. It almost has an anime feel to it. Great job all around.

Be sure to check it out on Cool Mini or Not to see more views of it.

Until next time,

Tyler M.
