Mini of the Week 10-19-18

Welcome back to Mini of the Week, where every Friday I will find a miniature from around the web that exemplifies an aspect of our hobby and share it with you.

Fellwater Troggoth by Aksel Olsson on Putty and Paint
There's just something so crisp and clean about the 'Eavy Metal style of painting, and here Aksel has really captured that look with the Fellwater Troggoth. The colors on it are pretty standard, greens, blues, and some pinks, but they're executed near perfectly. I love how smooth and crisp all of the transitions and highlights are. It all balances out nicely and really moves your eye around the model. It's bright, without being overly so as well, which again, just looks so striking.

The base on this is great as well. It fits the theme with a swampy look, and ties itself into AoS with the Stormcast helmet, so you know this isn't the Old World or anything. It does all of this without distracting from the model though. It's all neutral colors, and rather desaturated and drab too. This frames the model really effectively, and provides a bit of a scenic setting as well. This model definitely deserved the silver it won at the 2018 Golden Demons.

Be sure to check out more views of the model on Putty and Paint and show the artist some love if you like it.

Until next time,

Tyler M.
