Welcome back to Mini of the Week, where every Friday I will find a miniature from around the web that exemplifies an aspect of our hobby and share it with you.
Black Templar by mamikon on CMoN |
The painting is great too, with just the perfect amount of highlights on the black armor. It's still looks black, but everything is picked out clearly. The freehand Templar cross on the helmet is a fantastic touch and the weathering is just the right amount. This marine definitely looks like he has been in the thick of it, but it doesn't overwhelm the piece. I especially like the small amounts of blood spatter. The red really stands out against the black and white and also conveys the brutality of the Chapter even while showing off their nobility. The diorama base does a good job at framing the model, having a mostly orange tone in contrast to the model. The rust is suitably muted though as well so it doesn't overwhelm the more crisp colors on the mini itself. Overall I think this is a fantastic rendition of a Primaris Black Templar.
Until next time,
