Mini of the Week 5-10-19

Welcome back to Mini of the Week, where every Friday I will find a miniature from around the web that exemplifies an aspect of our hobby and share it with you.

Magnus Ogryn by Stefan Johnsson
I can definitely see why this won a Golden Demon. There's a ton of conversion work on this model, so much so that I wouldn't be surprised if it was 75% sculpted from scratch, if not more. The face and musculature is super realistic. It's expressive and human, but still reads as an Ogryn. I really like the power fist on him as well. He's so large already it's more of a glove.

The painting is super smooth and crisp. I love how bright everything is. It's super easy to discern what is what. I especially like the difference in the greens on this model. The pants, armor, and gun are all green, but they're all treated differently, with different shades of green and textures. It just shows how much individuality you can put into your model if you really want to. The skin is definitely the most impressive part. It looks realistic and transitions between yellows and reds pretty flawlessly. This guy reminds me a lot of the 'Eavy Metal style, but with slight tweaks to it.

Be sure to check it out on the Official Golden Demon Winners site!

Until next time,

Tyler M.
