Mini of the Week 10-27-17

Welcome back to Mini of the Week, where every Friday I will find a miniature from around the web that exemplifies an aspect of our hobby and share it with you.

Primaris Ulrik the Slayer by Pablo Iglesias López on Putty and Paint

Conversions of existing Space Marine characters to Primaris versions of themselves is always cool, and this Ulrik ticks all the boxes. It's an excellent fusion of the Ulrik model and the new Primaris Apothecary. I'm pretty sure I can pick out the different components, but they're blended so well I'm not 100% sure. I can't even tell if there is any sculpting on this or if it's just the various parts chopped up and glued together. The cape and crozius really make the model feel different, even though the pose is essentially unchanged from the Apothecary.

The painting on this is really excellent too, with some smooth blends and crisp highlights. Again, it's a great fusion of the two kits, but with Ulrik's color scheme it really just reads as him. The non-metallic metals are good too, something I'm not always a fan of. The little touch of object source lighting is a nice touch as well, while not overdone. I'd love to see more Primaris versions of other special characters out there, perhaps Ragnar or Dante?

Be sure to check out more views of the model on Putty and Paint and show the artist some love if you like it.

Until next time,

Tyler M.
